The Melbourne Cricket Club Clay Target Shooting Club (MCCCTSC) was formed in December 2006 and is a constituent part of the MCC Target Shooting Section Inc. The MCC's Sporting Sections are encouraged to compete at the highest level possible in their respective sports, but each section provides an opportunity for players of all ages and capabilities to enjoy their sport. New members are encouraged to obtain membership of the Australian Clay Target Association (ACTA) and/or Field and Game Australia (FGA) to obtain a shooting handicap. This enables you to compete on equal terms with all other shooters and makes your shooting experience far more enjoyable.
The MCC Clay Target Club is working hard to encourage teams participation at Down the Line (DTL) and Sporting (FGA) and Vintager events. Members are often competing as a team and these events are highlighted on Calendar page of the website. We welcome all members to attend and participate in the MCC colours.

The MCC Clay Target Club is a subsection of the MCC Target Shooting Section Inc. If you would like to join the MCC Clay Target Club as a member please download the Section application form and a copy of the rules and regulations for MCC members. New members are approved by the management committee and there is an annual cost for membership.
In order to achieve our objectives, MCCCTSC provides a number of shooting opportunities for our Members at various gun club ranges around Melbourne and throughout country Victoria, and at interstate venues if appropriate. MCCCTSC does not own its own shooting range, but operates range days in several ways. The Club has an arrangement with Frankston Australian Clay Target Club in Carrum Downs, and MCC Clay Target Club members are able to practice there.
Formal range days are held multiple times each year and the club also makes available a number of other shooting events for its Members. We offer a variety of disciplines (e.g. ACTA and Field & Game) at a selection of locations to suit all tastes. Dedicated coaching days are also held from time-to-time.
MCCCTSC is affiliated with Australian Clay Target Association and Field & Game Australia, and we will expand the affiliations to suit our circumstances. We encourage our Members to join at least one of these governing bodies in order to further the interests of the sport. MCCCTSC encourages active competitive shooting at all levels and enters team and individual competition as the occasion arises. Trophy events are held against a number of other like-minded clubs.
Junior and Family memberships are particularly encouraged. Specific advice on choice of firearm and firearm ‘fit’ is available from our experienced Members. If you are a novice to shooting, you will find that most shooters are only too pleased to provide assistance as to where to obtain equipment and repairs, and hints as to how best hit the clays, so it is worthwhile discussing any problems you might have with those with whom you shoot.
You are required to wear ear protection whilst active on the Range, and it is strongly recommended that you also wear eye protection. Any good gunshop will be able to provide suitable items for your selection.
There is no obligation to be a current member of the Melbourne Cricket Club (MCC) to join MCCCTSC, although in recognition of the financial support provided by the MCC successful applicants for membership of MCCCTSC must join the MCC Waiting List. Joining Members are expected to work towards obtaining their Longarm Licence (if they do not already posses one), within three months of becoming a Member and whilst MCCCTSC-owned guns are available for prospective and newly joined members, again it is expected that Members will work toward owning their own firearm(s) as soon as is practicable.
